Feeding Suggestions:

The foundation of an herbivore's nourishment is rooted in the pastures they inhabit. This feed is designed ONLY to enhance that intake. Furthermore, movement is imperative for proper digestion; therefore, our Herbal Feeds are intended to provide small, powerful supplemental meals only. We have fed our herbivores for years in this manner and believe it to be the best approach to offer substantial assistance where gaps arise, thereby optimizing overall nutrition - NEVER replacing it.

We suggest feeding the healthy herbivore, on a maintenance diet, first and foremost with high-quality, long-stem forage; then, supplementing with our Seasonal Herbal Feeds at a rate of up to 1 - 2 scoops cup per small breed equine (under 500 lbs) and 2 - 4 scoops per large breed equine (over 500 lbs). MEASURING SCOOP INCLUDED.

When feeding the young: Milk should be the foundation of the young herbivore's diet. As they approach weaning, pasture and hay will begin to fulfill nutritional needs. When and if you begin to offer grain, we recommend starting slowly (a small handful) until amounts reach those suggested above. It is always good practice to make any adjustments slowly and consult with your health practitioner when coming up with the best feeding plan for your animal.

A Few Words about Beet Pulp:

Our Seasonal Herbal Feeds contain Speedi Beet Pulp in an attempt to make it suitable for ALL herbivores, as it is a wonderful source of digestible fiber and particularly useful to the animal with laminitis. It HAS NOT been sweetened and is Non-GMO. Remember, you know your animal better than anyone, so please discuss with your health practitioner before offering to those with specific dietary needs.

Feeding this DOES require soaking and is mandatory for Equines. We soak ours in cool water mixed with Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)* for 5 - 10 minutes. Please add any additional supplements or medications AFTER feed has been soaked as prolonged soaking may destroy their intended benefit.

Cud-chewers (Ruminants) usually do fine on a more fibrous feed; if you choose not to soak the feed, provide easy access to plenty of fresh water (mix it with ACV* for added benefit) while feeding.

*ACV to water: ¼ cup per 1 gallon of water - mix in a pitcher and soak feed or offer as needed.
